What it takes

It’s the only place in Rutherford County that takes construction debris. The Rutherford County Landfill takes tires and brush. The Leanna Center takes some paint and some household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Rutherford County rules

  • The Haley Road center has been closed for remodeling since June 24, 2024. Don’t go there; the county will post when it reopens.
  • Residents without an account pay by weight: $50 for up to 999 pounds, $104.50 for 1,000 to 1,999 pounds, and $104.50 a ton past that. The station doesn’t take tires, batteries, hazardous waste, drums, concrete slabs, asbestos, sludge or liquids, or oversized materials. One line on Rutherford County’s transfer station page still says cash customers pay $95 a ton. The rates above are the page’s fee schedule, which says cash rates changed on July 1, 2026.
