What it takes

It’s the only place in Tipton County that takes tires, brush, and construction debris. The Tipton County Convenience Center takes appliances, mattresses, and some paint. The Tipton County Recycling Center takes electronics, used motor oil, and batteries.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Tipton County rules

  • You need a landfill permit to drop off: $35 a year (July 1 to June 30) at the Landfill Office or the Public Works Office, or a $5 day pass. Permits are sold only to Tipton County residents with two proofs of address. Recycling needs no permit.
  • The landfill only takes waste from inside Tipton County.
  • Businesses, commercial haulers, and rental property cleanouts pay $7 a cubic yard, with punch cards bought ahead at the Public Works Office.
  • Cardboard, #1 and #2 plastic, and newspaper recycling bins are also in Munford at Haddad’s and in Covington by the Water Plant Tower.
  • Cover or tarp your load, drive 10 mph, and keep children and pets in the vehicle. No liquids, closed containers or barrels, hot ashes, or anything burning.
