Sumner County rules

  • Sumner County doesn’t run convenience centers. Garbage, recycling, and brush pickup are handled city by city, so check with your city. The Resource Authority’s transfer station in Gallatin takes waste from across the county for a fee.
  • The recycle convenience center takes #1 and #2 plastic containers, bottles, and jugs; brown, clear, and green glass bottles and jars; cardboard; tin and aluminum cans; newspapers, magazines, and office paper; and used motor oil and antifreeze. Sort before you arrive and unload your own. No plate or window glass, mirrors, light bulbs, plastic bags, Styrofoam, PVC, or cooking oil, and no commercial vehicles.
