What it takes
Hamilton County’s other two convenience centers take the same items. The City of Chattanooga Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility takes some paint and household hazardous waste. The Wood Recycling Center takes brush.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Hamilton County rules
- Hamilton County’s own centers take recycling only. The county doesn’t post a drop-off for household trash; the City of Chattanooga’s landfill takes it, free for city residents and $2 a bag for everyone else.
- Each City of Chattanooga household can use the refuse collection centers 12 times a calendar year, with up to 8 bags and no more than a standard pickup truck bed load a visit. No tandem-axle trailers, dump bodies, or trucks bigger than a standard pickup, and no contractors, businesses, or landlords.
- Bring a driver’s license showing a City of Chattanooga address (new residents can show a utility bill such as electric, water, or gas), and come in a vehicle with Hamilton County tags. No commercial tags.
- The refuse collection centers don’t take household garbage, brush and leaves, batteries, computer electronics, paint thinner, propane tanks, gas or oil, concrete, dirt, roofing, or car parts, among other things.
