What it takes
Washington County’s other four convenience centers take the same items. The Waste Tire Recycling Center takes tires. The Lamar Brush Site takes brush.
Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.
Washington County rules
- There’s no charge for household trash and recyclables at the convenience centers.
- Household garbage must be bagged, up to 20 bags per vehicle per day. Loose garbage in a truck bed or trailer isn’t accepted.
- Arrive at least 30 minutes before closing time to be sure you’re served.
- The centers don’t take construction or demolition materials, business waste (including waste from rental property), or radioactive, liquid, or medical waste. Attendants can refuse any load.
- Glass isn’t accepted for recycling until further notice.
- The county’s page also lists the Iris Glen Landfill, 423-926-8375, open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 7 to 11 a.m. It doesn’t give the address or say who may use it.
