Sullivan County dump hours
This page covers two transfer stations. Each one’s hours are posted below, with the rules that apply.
What to do with tires, mattresses, paint, and more
Before you go
- Latex paint must be completely dry. Then it can go in with your regular household garbage.
- Nine recycling drop sites, at schools, Food City in Piney Flats, the Kingsport Civic Auditorium, and other spots around the county, take mixed paper, magazines, cardboard, and aluminum and tin cans. The Solid Waste Department’s information sheet lists them.
Transfer stations
- Both transfer stations take household garbage, mixed paper, magazines, cardboard, aluminum and tin cans, propane tanks, appliances, mixed metals, electronics (computers, keyboards, games, and televisions), sofas, chairs, mattresses, box springs, bathroom fixtures, and car tires. Used oil, antifreeze, batteries, household fluorescent bulbs, and oil-based paint are accepted as space allows.
