What it takes

Loudon County’s other two convenience centers take the same items. The Loudon County Landfill (Matlock Bend) takes tires. The Loudon Convenience Center hazardous waste drop-off takes some paint and household hazardous waste.

Each item has its own rules. Check before you go.

Loudon County rules

  • The county’s list of what the centers take covers recycling, appliances, electronics, batteries, and used oil. It doesn’t mention household trash, so call 865-988-7558 before bringing bagged garbage.
  • The centers don’t take yard waste, wood, demolition debris, commercial waste, dead animals, or biological waste.Loudon County’s list of materials the centers don’t take includes household chemicals and hazardous waste, but the same page says the Loudon Convenience Center now accepts household hazardous waste.
  • Every center takes cardboard, aluminum cans, all plastics, newspaper, magazines, office paper, and fluorescent bulbs.
