Wilson County rules

  • The 13 convenience centers serve the Wilson County Solid Waste District (unincorporated areas; towns and cities aren’t in it), and you must show a valid User Permit. District households pay a $45 yearly solid waste availability fee on the property tax bill; extra permits are $45 at the Solid Waste Services Office, and people outside the district can buy a $65 yearly temporary permit (252-399-2823).
  • The centers take household garbage, recycling, appliances, up to 5 tires, electronics, and cooking oil from district households only. Glass bottles and jars go in the yellow dumpsters. Business and industrial waste goes to the landfill.
